Learn to Animate with a veteran Disney Animator!

We are pleased to inform you that we now have three ways for you to learn Animation with Tinseltown Animation School.  We have two physical locations: The first is located in downtown Crown Point, Indiana, and the other is at the Emagine Cinema in Portage, Indiana.  The third way to learn is in our Online Class!   

Disney Veteran Greg Manwaring (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0544337/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1 ) personally conducts the classes, teaching the same hand-drawn (2D) curriculum that he developed (over  3 years)  for his students at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, California.a

Classe size at the Tinseltown Animation School is limited to 10 students per class so that there is in-depth one-on-one training with Mr. Manwaring.  A second group of 10 will be set up as needed. 

The class instructions include:

     -  Beginner level: The Essential Basics of Animation    

                  Learning the 12 core principles of animation, while improving your basic  

                  drawing skills and design sense.  Making things move!

     -  Intermediate level:  Skill Development

                  Learning to Act, design characters, giving weight to characters, defying

                  gravity, understanding physics with character locomotion. Giving life to

                  characters!

     -  Advanced level:  Concepts and Skills

                   Acting exercises with characters (one, two, multiple). Getting real world  

                   skills that can get you hired.

Students are individually mentored and work at their own comfortable pace.  There is no time pressure placed on the student which might hinder their ability to absorb and utilize the skills they are learning.

To be clear, after completing the three areas of study listed above our Tinseltown Animation School students will NOT receive any sort of educational 'Degree', as they would expect after completing 4 years of study at a major university (where they will have spent between $120,000 - $300,000).  

What they WILL get from Mr. Manwaring's instruction are a special set of skills that will allow them to pursue creating their own films/shows, and/or to have a solid chance of getting their 'foot in the door' on a major film or television production.  At the end of the day, NO ONE will get a job in the Animation industry because they possess an 'Animation Degree' - you are either competent or not - and your work will speak for itself!

The Classes will run all year long and mostly be in-person.  Some classes may need to be held via zoom based on illness, business and/or private travel of Mr. Manwaring, and will not affect their learning.

Classes are being held:

Monday: 115 S. Court Street (CP  Coworking offices) in Crown Point, IN.

Tuesday:  Online with Zoom.

Wednesday:  Emagine Cinema,  6550 American Way in Portage, IN. 

Class times are from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

Note: Students are free to eat and drink during my instruction (for those worried about missing dinner!)

Cost of Tuition: 

$500 per month (8 classes).  

$300 per month (4 classes).  

$80 per individual class

Equipment Rental (if needed):

$10 per class (2 wacom enabled 15.6" laptops with pens and animation software)

$8 per class (1 monitor 22" with connectors for your laptop/ipad)
